Hopi weekend conference: April 21-22, central London The danger of a new war in the Middle East is increasing every day. The war drums are beating ever louder, especially in Israel. Hands Off the People of Iran is hosting this weekend conference in order to highlight the dynamics behind the sable rattling.

Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad claims he has been blocked by the UK authorities from attending the Olympic Games in London.
Mr Ahmadinejad told Iran's official news agency IRNA that he would like to be "beside Iranian athletes" at the Games, but that Britain has "a problem" with him being there.
The Foreign Office today refused to confirm or deny his claim, saying only: "We don't comment on individual cases."

GENEVA (AP) — The Swiss government has extended its financial sanctions against Iran by freezing the assets of 11 more companies and people but decided not to take any action against Tehran's central bank, officials said Wednesday.
The action against an additional eight companies and three individuals was carried out Tuesday and "brings Switzerland largely in line with the restrictive measures" the European Union adopted in January, the Swiss Cabinet said. The move aims to pressure Iran to comply with U.N. demands over its controversial nuclear program.
